Dean Faulkner Wells (1936-2011) was the daughter of Dean Swift Faulkner, William Faulkner’s youngest brother, and Louise Hale.  As her father died in a plane crash months before her birth, her famous uncle raised her as a daughter in Oxford, Mississippi, where she lived most of her life. Dean collected and retold the ghost stories that her uncle “Pappy” used to tell, as well as write her own stories, including stories for children. She and her husband Larry Wells ran Yoknapatawpha Press, a regional publishing house.  Several months before her untimely death in July 2011, she gave what would be her last interview to François Busnel, host of the French television show La Grande Librairie (The Great Bookstore) for his monthly literary series, Les Carnets de Route (Road Journals).
